COBATrack Ground Protection Temporary Access Matting (TT010)

COBATrack Ground Protection Mat & Connectors
COBATrack Ground Protection Mats provide a durable and reusable solution for creating temporary roadways, vehicle access routes and working surfaces over vulnerable ground.
Manufactured from recycled high-density polyethylene (HDPE), the mats help protect grass, soil and other surfaces from rutting, churning and damage caused by temporary vehicle and pedestrian traffic.
The system includes the COBATrack Mat together with a choice of reusable PU or steel connectors, allowing multiple mats to be securely joined to create the required access route or temporary surface.
Temporary Ground Protection for Vehicle Access
Construction activity, events and temporary vehicle access can quickly damage grass and soft ground. COBATrack provides a protective surface between vehicles and the ground below, helping spread loads and reduce direct contact with the underlying terrain.
The mats are suitable for temporary roadways, site compounds, cabin access, car park overspill and other applications where ground protection is required without installing a permanent roadway.
Supports Loads Up to 5 Tonnes
COBATrack Mats can support loads of up to 5 tonnes depending on the condition, stability and preparation of the supporting ground.
This makes them suitable for a wide range of temporary access applications involving pedestrians and appropriate vehicles.
Please note: Maximum load performance depends on ground conditions and how the matting system is installed. The suitability of the supporting surface should always be assessed before use.
Manufactured from Recycled HDPE
The mats are manufactured from durable recycled high-density polyethylene, combining impact resistance with a manageable product weight.
HDPE is well suited to temporary ground protection because it provides durability across demanding outdoor environments while allowing the mats to be reused across multiple projects.
Dual-Sided Traction Surface
COBATrack features a dual-sided surface design to provide useful grip across different temporary applications.
One side incorporates a non-slip traction pattern, while the reverse features a checker plate surface. This allows the mat orientation to be selected according to the application and site conditions.
Integrated Carry Handles
Pre-formed carrying handles are incorporated into the mat to make manual handling, positioning and removal easier.
Each mat weighs approximately 20kg, providing a practical balance between durable ground protection and manageable handling on temporary sites.
Reusable Modular Ground Protection
COBATrack Mats are designed for repeated use. Once a project, event or temporary access requirement has finished, the mats can be disconnected, lifted and stored for future installations.
The modular format also allows access routes to be extended or reconfigured as site layouts change.
Choice of PU or Steel Connectors
Pre-formed connection points around each COBATrack Mat allow adjoining mats to be securely linked using compatible connectors.
Both PU and steel connectors are available in Single and Double configurations, allowing the most appropriate connector to be selected according to the required mat layout.
PU Connectors
Reusable PU connectors provide a secure connection between adjoining mats and are supplied with plates and bolts. They are designed to be easy to install, remove and reuse across temporary installations.
PU connectors can be secured while the mats are positioned side by side and require a suitable socket or spanner for installation.
Steel Connectors
Reusable steel connectors provide a robust and cost-effective alternative for joining COBATrack Mats.
The bolt-free design allows the connectors to be inserted into the pre-formed mat slots without fastening bolts, enabling quick installation and removal.
Single and Double Connectors Explained
Both connector materials are available as Single and Double versions.
- Single Connectors: Used where a single connection point is required between adjoining mats.
- Double Connectors: Provide two connection positions within one component for suitable mat layouts and junctions.
The quantity and type of connectors required will depend on the size, direction and configuration of the finished ground protection area.

Installation and Connection
COBATrack Mats are loose laid onto the required surface and can then be joined using compatible PU or steel connectors.
Steel connectors are inserted into the designated connection slots between adjoining mats. PU connectors are positioned while the mats are laid side by side and secured using their supplied fastening hardware.
The modular system can be continued in the required direction until the necessary access route or ground protection area has been created.
Once the temporary requirement has finished, the process can be reversed so the mats and connectors can be removed and stored for reuse.
Protect Ground and Reduce Reinstatement Costs
Repeated vehicle movements can create ruts, churn soft surfaces and leave substantial reinstatement work once a project is complete.
COBATrack creates a temporary protective surface that helps spread traffic over the underlying ground and reduce direct damage, potentially lowering repair and reinstatement requirements.
Temporary Access Without Permanent Groundworks
COBATrack is particularly useful where temporary access is required but installing permanent hardstanding would be costly, disruptive or unnecessary.
The reusable mats can be deployed for a specific project and removed afterwards, making the system suitable for contractors, event organisers, builders' merchants and facilities teams managing changing access requirements.
Choose the Right COBATrack Component
Select the COBATrack Mat or the required PU or steel connector from the available product options.
