How offen should we have an independant racking Inspection?
- Normally an annual independant inspection is required, in some cases this may be more often depending on damaged occurred.
- Following changes to the warehouse layout or warehouse system
- An initial inspection should be done within 4 to 6 months of a new installation
Why do I need a Racking Inspection
- You may have no choice if your insurer, Heath and Safety Officer is following a warehouse accident or a rack collapse
- Pallet Racking is classified as Work Equipment and requires regular inspections
- Racking surveys can help reduce both insurance premiums and maintenance costs
INSPECTIONS : WHAT TO LOOK FOR?
Rack Loading Signs.
- Are rack load signs displayed?
Uprights and Footplates
- Are uprights damaged?
Out of Plumb Racking
- Is the racking vertical?
Braces
- Are racking braces damaged?
- Replace bent horizontal or diagonal braces. For Bracing, the member deviation from a 1m long staight edge plane should not exceed 10mm
Floor Fixing
- Are floor fixing installed ?
Beams
- Are beams overloaded?
- Are beam connectors or safety clips missing?
- Has a beam popped out of its upright?
- Are welds damaged?
